Help with Mono – Deep Work Launcher. Most questions are answered below.

Setup & first launch

Android

Set Mono as your home screen

Long-press your current home screen → Home settings → choose Mono. Or go to Settings → Apps → Default apps → Home app → Mono.

Android

Grant required permissions

Mono will prompt you for Usage Access, Notification Access, and Display Over Other Apps. All three are needed for full blocking. Tap each prompt and toggle Mono on.

iOS

Enable Screen Time

Settings → Screen Time → Turn on Screen Time. Mono uses Apple's Screen Time API to block apps. You do not need to set up Family Sharing.

iOS

Pair with a Shortcuts Focus Mode

Create a "Deep Work" Focus in Settings → Focus. Add a Shortcut that triggers Mono's deep work action. This silences system notifications in parallel with app blocking.

Frequently asked questions

Blocking requires three permissions: Usage Access, Display over other apps, and the Foreground Service running. Go to Settings → Permissions inside Mono to check the status of each. On some Samsung and Xiaomi devices, you may also need to disable battery optimisation for Mono: Settings → Battery → Battery usage → Mono → Unrestricted.

Yes. When DND mode is set to Priority (not Total Silence), starred contacts and repeat callers can still reach you. Configure this in Settings → Do Not Disturb inside Mono.

Tap the timer and choose End Session. If Strict Mode is on, you will be asked for the PIN you set when you enabled it. This is intentional — the friction is the feature.

Wait for the session to end naturally — the PIN is only required during an active session. Once the session ends, go to Settings → Strict Mode and you can disable or change the PIN. If you need immediate access, restarting the device will end the session.

On some Android versions, grayscale restoration requires the app to be running in the background. Make sure Mono is exempt from battery optimisation. If grayscale persists after uninstalling, you can reset it at: Settings → Accessibility → Colour and motion → Colour correction → Off.

Open Mono → Settings → scroll to the bottom → Restore Purchase. Make sure you are signed into the same Apple ID or Google account used for the original purchase.

iOS: Settings → [Your name] → Subscriptions → Mono → Cancel Subscription.
Android: Google Play → Profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Mono → Cancel.
Cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date to avoid being charged for the next year. You retain Pro access until the end of the paid period.

Yes. Mono adapts to both the cover and inner screen. The launcher layout scales to the inner display's wide aspect ratio. Blocking works regardless of which screen is active.

Mono does not back up data to our servers — we have none. Your settings and stats may be included in Android Auto Backup or iCloud device backup depending on your OS settings, but that is handled entirely by Google or Apple. We have no access to it.
